Students at North Middle School celebrated International Literacy Day on Thursday, September 8.
In honor of International Literacy Day, members of the English department collaborated to select short stories for each grade level to promote literacy and cultural awareness within our school. Homeroom teachers led students through an interactive read aloud during an extended homeroom period. Short stories included: “Amigo Brothers” by Piri Thomas, “Mother and Daughter” by Gary Soto, and “Rules of The Game” by Amy Tan. It was wonderful to see our students actively engaged in reading short stories that reflected various cultural perspectives.
Start practicing your best smile because picture day is on the way! On September 27, students will take their yearbook photos during English class. Forms were given out in homeroom and extras are available in the main office. Please bring the completed form with payment to the photographers on 9/27. Please note that it is not required to purchase picture packages.
